EpiResistenze

Resistances to herbicides and epigenetic mechanisms: an innovative approach to an emerging phytosanitary problem.

Areas of intervention:
In the Lombard agricultural systems, the main problems regarding herbicide resistances occur in rice cultivation, a matter that DGR 3233/2015 has defined as a priority and in which, in an increasingly alarming way, herbicidal treatments have a low effectiveness on infestants for which the variation of the area of application of the active substance used does not change.
Goals:
  • To investigate the problem of herbicide resistances, an important phytosanitary emergency – specifically in paddy fields – by taking an innovative approach;
  • To identify the epigenetic mechanisms of the resistances, supporting more effective programmes of prevention and fighting against infestants;
  • To supply new perspectives on the knowledge of environmental stresses and their effects on the evolutions of the phenomena;
  • To supply useful tools for comprehension of the mechanisms of resistance to the herbicides known to this day.
